The Titration Method

The titration technique consists of counting the number of drops of titrate necessary to cause a colour change in the sample. The number of drops used are listed on the enclosed instructions and thus the reading converted into mg/L of the parameter being measured.
 

Proper dissolved oxygen levels are essential for aquatic eco systems. A dissolved oxygen level of 5mg/L or greater will support healthy growth of most fish species. Oxygen depletions are the most common cause of fish mortality in ponds. Most oxygen deletions occur in the summer months because 1) warm water holds less dissolved oxygen than cool or cold water, and 2) because the pond's oxygen demand is greater in warm water than in cold water.

Dissolved Oxygen test is a titration testing method.

Think of your pond as breathing in oxygen during the day and breathing out carbon dioxide at night. Carbon dioxide can be present in the pond due to waste products decaying at the bottom of the pond and respiration by pond inhabitants .... fish, insects, plants, algae. In nature lakes and rivers contain carbon dioxide at levels smaller than 10mg/L however stagnant or contaminated water can contain higher concentrations due to organic decomposition, this can create a problem for fish keepers.

Carbon Dioxide test is a titration testing method.

This professional kit is designed for monitoring the important parameters for fish and aquaculture applications; Alkalinity, Carbon Dioxide, Dissolved Oxygen, Hardness, pH and Salinity. Everything needed to carry out over 100 tests of each parameter is included in the robust attaché case, and for pH an electronic digital readout tester is included which can take many, many 1000's of readings.

Alkalinity is measured from 0 to 300mg/L in two ranges.
Carbon Dioxide is measured from 0 to 100mg/L in three ranges.
Hardness is measured from 0 to 300mg/L in 2 ranges.
Dissolved Oxygen is measured from 0 to 10mg/L in one range.
pH is measured from 0.0 to 14.0pH on the electronic digital meter.
Salinity is measured from 0 to 40g/Kg in one range.
