The most basic method of
testing is to use a colour comparison chemical test kit, whereby the
operator compares the colour developed within the sample to a colour
chart or coloured cube.
A Colourimetric test kit
offers the user a fast and efficient way to test for a number of
parameters in the water, Chlorine in this case.....
The Colourimetric kit
works by using a sample of the pond water and adding a small amount
of the chemical reagent, For Chlorine the reagent is known as DPD
which reacts with the Chlorine found in the water sample to turn the
water pink the depth of the colour which shows up is how you will
then determine the strength of the chemical found in the water.
The Kit is provided with a
Colour Scale appropriate to the parameter you are testing for so
once you have completed the test you can stand the sample pot next
to the scale to get your reading.
Measures total chlorine using the DPD chemical method. Kit contains
everything needed to carry out 50 individual tests.

An important note to remember when
deciding on a Chlorine tester is that whilst the colour changing
kits are the lower end of budget we don't all see colours in the
same way.....But the final choice would be down to a How much you
want to spend VS How accurate you want the result......
