Acriflavin.

Probably one of the most widely used of all the water treatments .. Acriflavin has been around now for a great many years ... and for years was used widely in almost every hospital where disinfectants were needed ..

Acriflavin when added to the pond will reduce the numbers of these opportunistic bacteria in the pond, thus lowering not only the chance of infection, but also the intensity of disease in already infected ponds.

It is a very mild antiseptic that will not cause any stress or harm to the Koi or other pond fish or plants ...

Using Acriflavin

Remove adsorbent filter material - carbon, zeolite etc.
Switch off UV
Increase Aeration
Allow plenty of time to observe fish
Do not mix medications

Dosage

Add 10 ml of Acriflavin to every 80 gallons (363 L) of pond water.

A single dose should be sufficient. If not, wait 10 days before adding a second dose.

Formalin

Used, normally, with Malachite green,  and this aids the eradication of the above mentioned parasites .. it strips off some to the protective mucus layer on the fish thus allowing the Malachite Green to work ...

Malachite green and Formaldehyde are the best treatment for common external parasitic infections.

Never add Formalin to a pond which has a salt content ...

Instead of using these two medications separately, and worrying over incorrect dosing and five day treatment courses etc, why not use F.M.G. MIXTURE. This is a strong mixture of the two anti-parasite agents that is applied to the pond or treatment tank once only. The treatment lasts the full 5 days required to kill all free swimming and emergent ecto-parasites.

Another good, treatment for Gill and other Infections and also for some parasites. Use as per instructions with the dosage as stated per gallon of pond water - this again is where a special clean bowl is needed.

Always when you are giving a bath of any sort to your Koi, make sure that you also add an air stone into the water ..

Koi Calm makes fish easier to handle whenever topical treatments are necessary.

Before attempting to handle sick, wounded or damaged fish the use of Koi Calm to sedate fish will make all topical treatments to areas that much simpler. However, it is highly recommended that this operation be only attempted by a skilled person or whilst under skilled supervision at all times.

Follow explicitly the directions on the bottle for safety precautions.

Ulcer Swab can be used to clean and disinfect ulcers and wounds. If the fish can be handled without anaesthetic, gently clean the wound with a tissue soaked in Ulcer Swab and apply using the brush provided as per the instructions. Alternatively, anaesthetize the fish under expert supervision before attempting to clean the wound.

After cleaning use Wound Seal to help the wound to heal quickly.

Wound Seal is an antiseptic paste, which can be applied to ulcers and other wounds once they have been cleaned and disinfected with Ulcer Swab. It is designed to remaining contact with the skin and protects the wound from further infection.

It also contains special colloids including natural healing agent Aloe Vera that assists in the repair process and consequently allows the wound to heal rapidly and without further stress to the fish.
