Ultraviolet Pond Clarifiers
Tropical Marine Centre pioneered the development of UV
cleansing systems and has manufactured them successfully since the
late 1970s. There are now four ranges available: Pond Clear, , Pro
Clear Advantage and Pro Pond UV110.
But how do they work?
Ultraviolet radiation at a wavelength of 254 nanometers is
extremely effective in halting the reproduction of algae. The
algae readily absorbs the UV light which damages its DNA structure
and makes it flocculate (clump together ) allowing it to be
trapped in a mechanical filter.. (see diagram link above). |
