This
super little surface skimmer
will do the same job as a
much larger skimmer and in many ways has greater advantages ..
for example - it has a removable tray which traps the debris and
waste fish food etc ... this is extremely easy to remove and to
clean nor will it allow very small leaves or fish waste through
the system as the much larger skimmers will, and, do ... Also at
'feeding time' and assuming that you do have your surface
skimmer working - to prevent the floating food to be drawn into
the surface skimmer it is a very simply matter of turning the
inside tray round so that the back edge faces the front .. this
will still allow the water to flow through the skimmer but will
not allow the food to enter the tray where the fish cannot get
at it ...The skimmer has a molded top that fits snuggly to
prevent birds or whatever else having a bath in it ... Not
only that this Unique Surface Skimmer will work extremely
efficiently on a low wattage pump - say for example :
a central heating pump or better still an Oase 'Aquamax' 5,000.

The water being drawn down the surface skimmer can, if you wish, by connecting a length of hose, or pipework, by directed straight into the prime vortex, if you have one, or your filter system prior to it's return to the pond .. or of course the water can be directed into a small filter unit unit situated, at say, the top of a small waterfall - or other return to the pond... Of course please bear in mind that the surface
skimmer does not have to be switched on all the time .. in fact
use it as you need to - it there is a lot of debris, or dust
floating on the surface .. then switch it on for on hour ... it
will make the world of difference. |

OK ... that covered now you want to know 'How easy is it to fit' ? - right ... well choose the area where the flow of your pond is greatest and far enough away from any waterfalls or return pipes from the filters. When you have decided the appropriate place then the next job is to decide whether you wish to take the pipework through the wall of the pond at approximately 12" below the surface, if you have a liner in place then use a 1.5" tank connector which can be easily sealed using 'Paraflex', or if you have a concrete pond then seal round the tank connector using (what we have found to be excellent) P40 or similar product which is a Fibre Glass paste obtainable from B&Q or any good Motor Accessory shop... then connect up the short length of pipe through the wall to your pump - connect the pipe to the filters and you are ready to switch on ... It may take you longer than it has done for me to write this to tell you how easy it is .. but any work you may have to do will, I assure you, be well worth it... |

| The second way that this can be fitted to an existing pond is to bring the pipe which is connected to the outlet at the bottom of the skimmer unit, back up behind it, or slightly to the side so that it does not force the skimmer unit further away from the wall, and bring it back up over the edge of your pond, or wall... If you do choose to adopt this method then you will need to fit a 'None Return Valve' somewhere in your pipework before your pump - both of these methods work but the first one of course does not have any pipework showing.... |

| Fitting one of
these to a New Pond could not be simpler ... and really is
essential planning for one is high on the agenda. |

anywhere in the world to advise on pond construction and
filtration design. |
