Symptoms |
|
Fish's body bloats out (as though full of roe) and, viewed from above, scales stand away from body producing a pineapple-like appearance - most common in Carp family and Anabantids. |
Disease |
| 1. ODEMA or DROPSY -
causal pathogen(s) not certain - possibly multiple fungal/bacterial
infection 2. "MALAWI BLOAT" - OCTOZIN. |
Koi Ponds & Garden Ponds |
| Most frequently found amongst Nishikigoi koi and goldfishes. As soon as abdomenal swelling is noted treat with OCTOZIN. Early treatment is essental if the fish is going to have any chance at all of recovering from this disease. But more often than not this disease will result in mortalities |
| Alternative treatment: I wish I knew one ! then I may not be sat here writing about it I would be selling the cure and would have probably retired to a nice villa in Spain ... |
Prevention |
| Improve filtration and system hygiene. Ensure food isn't spoilt before feeding. With large and valuable fishes, the author has achieved much success by treating fish with OCTOZIN where the infection of the viscera is essentially protozoan / bacterial / fungal / viral infections are untreatable with any medication except PARAGON. |
Please note:If symptoms persist it may be necessary to contact a veterinarian for a prescription treatment. |
