How Does It Work?....
The products efficiency is helped
by the unique treatment and application
technique. It is sprayed onto the area to be
treated with an atomising spray nozzle, which
enables you to apply a quick drying 'micro
layer' onto the wound directly. This enables
rapid drying, efficient transfer of the
essential ingredients to the damaged tissue and
delays the treatment wash-out effect commonly
observed with thick layer application. It also
minimises the time that the fish needs to spend
out of water under anaesthetic.
Sometimes, but only sometimes, if
you are quick and the wound is easily accessible
you can treat the fish without anaesthetic if
you can dry the wound with the fish swimming in
a bowl...
WoundMed also acts as a treatment
for bacterial or fungal infections. These are
usually present at the heel of a bacterial
infection associated with ulcer disease. The
product also contains a host of natural
ingredients to promote rapid tissue
regeneration. All of the raw materials used are
of the highest standard and you are guaranteed
of a rapid healing on wounds, followed by good
re-growth of skin tissue. The application will
also minimize the formation of scar tissue on
the site of the wound which is great news.
Anyone can apply WoundMed. It
takes a little practise and the green hands of
any Koi keeper are a sure giveaway that WoundMed
has been in action somewhere...
Typically though the fish is
anaesthetised in a bath or vat and removed onto
a moist working mat. The wound is blotted dry
using an absorbent paper pad. BaoBio WoundMed is
sprayed onto the infected area and allowed to
dry. You can speed this process up by blowing on
it. A second micro-layer of BaoBio WoundMed can
be sprayed on and from practical experience is
highly recommended. Once the wound is dry to the
touch, the fish can be returned to water.
Healing will be noticeable within 3 to 5 days.
Repeat application every 3 days until a new skin
layer has formed on the wound.
BaoBio WoundMed is specifically
designed for treatment of infections on the
skin. If the fish also has an internal
infection, injectable antibiotic treatment may
be necessary, while BaoBio WoundMed can be used
simultaneously to aid healing of the damaged
skin tissue.
Note that WoundMed will NOT cure
ulcers! It will topically treat them but ulcer
disease is a result on internal bacterial
infection - so you may have to inject to save
the fish.
However, WoundMed is particularly
useful in smaller fish, where the over use of
antibiotics could cause severe damage to the
kidneys and liver of the fish. BaoBio WoundMed
will replace the use of antibiotics, if the
wound is detected at an early stage and the
infection has not become systemic (internal)!!
NB: This means picking up an
infection early! A slight redness is all it
takes so whenever you suspect a problem check
ALL your fish. If you pick up an ulcer or other
problem you MUST CHECK ALL YOUR FISH from tip to
tail.
