Add-Ons for the Bubble Bead Filters

ULTRA-VIOLET UNITS

Using a UV unit will guarantee full control of green water algae.

The sizing chart here, shows the appropriate wattage of unit.

A Dedicated UV unit is being developed that will fit neatly into an optional housing ‡ fitted to models BBF-3 and BBF-5.

Please ask us regarding current the availability.

(‡ At time of order, specify 'Upgradeable Version' with horizontal 1½" top-outlet. The optional UV unit can be then added to this version in the future. Alternatively, the complete unit with outlet fittings can be purchased at a later date as an upgrade to models supplied with 2" outlets.)

LOW-SITE VALVE ASSEMBLY

Where the filter has to be mounted in a low site, it may not function effectively. However, by adding extra valves, the filter can be mounted in situations where the filter inlet is lower than the pond level.

For 'TwinValve' models a low-site valve assembly can be fitted. This consists of:

	a modified shuttle valve to replace the standard shuttle valve supplied.
	a plumbing loop that fits before the filter inlet.

Together this assembly ensures that the filter will continue to function effectively. This accessory is being made available during 2002 - please contact us regarding availability.

Two options are available for models BBF-1, BBF-2 & BBF-4.

	Fit a ball-valve in the feed from the pump to the filter. The valve is closed manually during the backwash process.
	Fit an appropriate strength spring-check-valve instead of the standard inlet checkvalve. This closes automatically during the backwash process. We should be able to supply these valves as an accessory.

EstroSieve

The internal strainers on the BubbleBead Filters are not intended to handle large quantities of solids over 2 mm in size.

Using an EstroSieve with the Bubblebead

This is not an issue if the filter-pump incorporates a strainer screen of 2 mm gauge or less. However, when solids handling pumps are used, some form of additional strainer is essential.

One strainer option is the EstroSieve unit.

	Self clearing function reduces blocking
	Easily removed strainer screen
	Wipes clean in seconds
	Beneficially aerates water before it is pumped to the filter.

Water flows through a special sieve element comprised of hundreds of stainless-steel triangular blades.

	Lifts dirt particles from the water
	Retains waste above water level, so....
	stops nutrients from dissolving, so....
	helps to reduce algae growth in the system.

Sieve elements are available with gap spacings of
50, 100, 150, 200, 300, 600 or 1000 microns (1 micron = 1µ = 0.001 mm).

The units are ideal for use before BubbleBead filters as a pre-strainer.
Fit with the 1000 or 600 micron sieve.

They can also be used before chamber filters
- replacing bulky vortex and brush chambers and beneficially aerating the water.

The units are constructed in stainless steel, with a 110 mm inlet.
Two sizes are available. A leaflet gives installation instructions - but there has now been added to the range a very strong impact plastic version, which of course works just as well but saves a little money at the same time ..
