For my own part, there is still a tremendous fascination as to how and why Nishikigoi were produced in the first place. To be brutally honest, they were produced more by mistake rather than by intent and, for many years after 'coloured Carp' had been bred, apart from the breeders themselves, very few others had ever seen or even heard about them.
