    HOLIDAY FOODS

For those of you out there who like to go on holiday or away for the odd weekend but worry about the neighbours forgetting to go in and feed the aquarium, or in most cases ‘over feeding’ it……..don’t worry there is a range of foods available to suit all of your needs, in handy format they just need to be popped into the aquarium and away you go……..safe in the knowledge that the fish will be fed………

A tip about feeding Plecostomus and other algae eating fish while you are away…….
As it is not possible to leave a number of algae wafers in the tank because of the pollution factor………. leave some algae deposits in the tank before you go don’t clean the glass and ornaments, leave something for the fish to graze on also the odd bunch of oxygenating plant ie: Elodia Densa or Cobomba this plant they will happily nibble on while you soak up the sun……………


THE 3 DAY PYRAMID FEEDER

Can be used for all Tropical, Cold water and Marine fish

These unusual looking holiday blocks come in a four pack, each pyramid specifically designed for feeding your aquarium fish for the weekend……..
Just place one of the pyramids into the aquarium and it will immediately start to dissolve giving off a stream of bubbles……….within hours, the first nourishing food pellets will begin to swell and push out of the pyramid………..this is actual food not just plaster and minerals like a lot of the cheaper holiday foods……….
 

One pyramid will feed 15 to 20 average-sized fish in a 40 litre (10 US gallon) aquarium for 3 to 4 days, depending on the temperature and the PH of the water……..
Note: in very hard water, dissolving time may increase………

There is a caution to using these blocks though………
Do not use in fish bowls or aquariums without adequate filtration and aeration because water circulation is needed for the pyramid to dissolve properly………
Avoid placing the pyramid feeder in the direct line of flow of the aquarium filter as it may dissolve too quickly…….

Always take any uneaten holiday food out of your aquarium when you return home…….these are not long term or convenience foods………

THE 7 DAY PYRAMID FEEDER

Can be used for all Tropical, Coldwater and Marine fish

When you actually read the instructions on these feeders, although they are called 7 day feeders they will feed for up to 10 days, so at a push and from every one of our customers that have used them they will do 14 days…………..

 
As with the weekend feeders above they dissolve slowly releasing actual food out into the water for your fish……….

With the same nutritional value these are a great way of making sure that your fish are well fed while you are away on holiday……

The same rules apply to the filtration aspect……….

For those of you who only run a Goldfish bowl or small aquarium with little or no filtration, your needs are different……….. holiday foods containing actual food particles are not an option open to you………to preserve the life of your fish you need to avoid over pollution {click here to see how filtration works and setting up a Tropical or Cold Water Aquarium} so………..
Plaster and minerals formed into a block will preserve the life of goldfish in a bowl or an unfiltered tank…………not suitable obviously for any Marine Fish
