Water Care and Treatments:

Water Care and Treatments.

Within the Aquarium Trade there are many water care products on the market today for use in Tropical – Coldwater and Marine environments……….some it has to be said work far better than others……..

Here we hope to guide you to a selection of the best water care and treatments that will be the best for you, your fish and invertebrates………

The greater majority of the products that we have listed in the following pages we have road tested for ourselves to bring you what we consider to be a wide range and choice to suit all your water care needs……..

As a general rule over our many years in the Aquarium trade we have always had the ‘Golden Rule’ if you take care of the water and make sure is kept up to top quality your fish will almost look after themselves……..

Of course the first consideration of any aquarium is optimum filtration………..a filtration system should never be the after thought………it is far better to ‘over filter’ slightly than it is to ‘under filter’. Always go for the best filter that you can afford as it will pay dividends, and help to keep your water quality in great shape and in turn this will keep your fish very happy and healthy…………..

It is always vital to use some sort of tap water conditioner, when we say that what we mean is a product, usually in liquid form that de-chlorinates the water, taking the harmful chlorine and metals out of it before it is added to your aquarium……..

Why is this important?
Firstly to any aquatic life chlorine is an irritant, just imagine your lungs getting clogged up with toxic fumes and acid being poured on your skin? This is the effect that chlorine and chloramines can have on your fish through their gills (lungs) and skin……………..

Then just as importantly a healthy filtration system runs on ‘good bacteria’ these good bacteria eat their way through most of the organic deposits in the aquarium water that cause pollution and there fore are also harmful to your fish’s wellbeing. And of course chlorine isn’t choosey, it is put in our tap water to kill bacteria, good or bad………..

When keeping certain more tender species, Marine or Discus for example why not consider investing in a Reverse Osmosis Unit to take the chlorine etc out at source……………Click Here

We will try our best to guide you to the right treatments to use and help you to understand the use of them………..

Here are just a few links that will guide you through some of the products that we offer you our customer…………….
